The Leeds United Supporters’ Trust was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former Leeds City Council Leader, Keith Wakefield.

During some of the most difficult and uncertain years in Leeds United’s recent history, Keith was a valued friend of the Trust, offering Gary Cooper and the Trust Board advice, counsel and support, often quietly and away from the public eye. He understood what Leeds United meant to its supporters and to the city, and recognised the importance of fans having a meaningful voice in the future of their football club.

Keith loved football and understood the enormous potential of Leeds United as the city’s only professional club. His friendship, encouragement and support during challenging times were greatly appreciated and will not be forgotten.
