Norman Hunter 1943 - 2020

The Trust is devastated to hear the news of the passing of Norman Hunter.

For many fans of the club, Norman Hunter is Leeds United. An icon. A hero.

Part of one of the best football teams in history, Norman not only helped to shape our club and its values, but he remains one of our greatest ever players and one who is truly deserving of the title “Leeds United Legend”. Norman was rightly honoured as part of our Centenary celebrations, and in late 2019 was awarded the freedom of the city of Leeds with other members of the 1967-74 “Revie Era” team in recognition of what he did for the city.

Norman was a true gentleman and will be remembered for his warm personality, charm and wit. Those who were lucky enough to have met him all speak extremely highly of him, and each seem to have a unique story or memory. He remained close to the club and his teammates long after his retirement, and was an excellent ambassador for Leeds United, as well as a fantastic human being.

We wish to express our deepest condolences to Norman’s family, his friends and his teammates.

Rest in peace, Norman.

Marching on Together.
